Chanel Lipstick Review

For today’s post I’m going to be talking about Chanel lipsticks. These lipsticks are the most expensive ones that I own, with the most recent one costing £26. I have two different shades in two different formulas, so I feel I can give a varied opinion on both.

These are the two shades here, one is a true bright red that has a sheen to it, it’s formula is known as the Rouge Allure and it is in the shade 104 Passion. The second and most recent addition is the formula Rouge Allure Velvet and it is in the shade la Raffinée. The shade Passion was given to me as a birthday present around two years or so ago, and you can see the packaging is still the same to this day, which I think is something special from a brand like Chanel.

The camera and lighting doesn’t pick up the colour as well in the bullet, so if you want a better idea of the colours and finishes of these, take a look at the swatches on the back of my hand.

Firstly lets talk about the Rouge Allure in Passion. I love this colour, it is the perfect red and screams glamour. I don’t wear red as much as I used to but when I do I can honestly say this is the first one I reach for. It’s not drying in the slightest but I put that down to the sheen formula it has. When I say sheen, I don’t mean that it isn’t opaque, I simply mean it has a shine to it. This also lasts really well and throughout the day it does lose its shine ever so slightly but I have no issue with that because it stays put. Obviously it isn’t completely transfer proof, but I don’t expect it to be unless it was a matte liquid lipstick.

Secondly, the Rouge Allure Velvet in la Raffinée. This is a new favourite for sure. It has a satin finish, which is my favourite finish in a lipstick because it is a little more hydrating than a matte finish and doesn’t settle into the lip lines as much. This colour too – on the more purple side of a nude, slightly darker if anything. Totally acceptable for everyday wear, I wore this to my recent job interview so it’s not in your face at all and I’ve also wore it to work. This is the best bit. It lasted all day. When I say lasted all day I mean it didn’t budge through drinking and eating, it didn’t go patchy in the slightest and it didn’t feel uncomfortable. I think I’d go as far to say this is my favourite formula of lipstick ever.

Just thought I’d include this photo because look how pretty the packaging is.. So overall, this gets a big thumbs up from me. Even with the high price tag, you get your moneys worth in packaging and in formula, whatever formula you prefer.

Have you tried these lipsticks? Do you feel the same way?

See you in the next one!

Taylor xoxo
