Becca Moonstone vs Mary Lou Manizer

For today’s post I have a major dupe alert. I haven’t seen anyone compare the two of these – but to me it seems so obvious! Needless to say this will be a short and sweet post today, but with deadlines looming at uni, this I just had to share. 

The two products in question (as you may have gathered from the title) are Becca’s powder highlight in Moonstone and The Balm’s Mary Lou-manizer. 

You already know my love for Mary Lou, and I only recently got Becca Moonstone. So the question is – which one is better? 

For me, I think formula wise and what is more worth your money is Mary Lou. Don’t get me wrong – the Becca highlight is amazing and so finely milled and pigmented, but because of this I feel it would break so easily and you would hit pan so quickly. I don’t think it’s necessary to have both though. 

Since I got the Becca highlight I haven’t reached for Mary Lou, so take that as you will. At £32, I think you would use it too! I love this highlight so much and I think it is the perfect highlighting shade for my skin tone and would look so pretty on so many others. The same goes however, for Mary Lou. 

I’ve had my Mary Lou for about 2 years now and although I can just about make out the indentation on the bottom of the pan, I still have a lot of product left, which is impressive considering I used it consistently for those two years. Although it isn’t as finely milled, you still get the intense pigment you want from it. 

It’s a tough choice, and if you’re a highlighter junkie then there’s no harm in having both. For me, I would recommend Mary Lou as a must have to anyone. If you want to splash out on a luxury highlight at nearly double the price, then the Becca one is amazing. I’d love to try Opal, as I feel it would be a more frosty shade, but it’s an investment I shan’t be making for a while at least!
